NOW OPEN: Fast Casual Eatery “Pie Pie Pie” in South Redondo

PIE PIE PIE! Sweet pies, savory pies, and even pizza pies are now freshly made and available for sale in one South Bay location. Check out Pie Pie Pie, a new fast-casual eatery that quietly opened its doors in South Redondo a few weeks ago at Torrance Blvd. and Camino Real (it occupies the space of the now-closed pizzeria, The Slice).

Don’t let its storefront location in a nondescript strip mall fool you — the savory pies, in particular, are top notch. I tasted the pumpkin pie, which is more savory than sweet (my preference) as well as the pecan pie, which is also not overly sweet. Both are excellent, but if forced to make a choice, I would more highly recommend the savory pie selections as I prefer the crust on those over the one used for the sweet pies.

Pie Pie Pie also serves Korean-style chicken wings, which are slightly sweet, not hot, and seasoned with sesame seeds. In addition, they offer a nice selection of New York-style, thin-crust pizzas (cheese, pepperoni, buffalo chicken, veggie and more), along with pasta, salads, and subs, the latter three of which I haven’t tried as of yet.

All of the yummy crusty creations at Pie Pie Pie are handmade by pastry chef Euni Kim (who trained at New York’s French Culinary Institute and worked at several New York restaurants like Battery Gardens and River Cafe). Her husband Kyoung Kang, who works in finance, runs the business side of making pies (and more). The business partners — who are also married — have lived in the neighborhood since 2011.

Call TODAY to order your holiday pies! Seasonal sweet pie selections currently include apple, pecan, and pumpkin. Order your Thanksgiving pies by 9:00pm on Monday, November 23! Note that Pie Pie Pie is always closed on Tuesdays.

Open every day except Tuesdays at 11:30am to 9:00pm – pick up, eat in, or order for delivery ($20 minimum). Free onsite parking. NOTE: I recommend taking your pies “to go” and reheating them at home for lunch or dinner since the place is small (only three tables and four bar chairs) plus the ambiance of the space is not in line with the excellence of my favorite — the savory pies!

LIVING: Healthy Quickstart with My Fit Foods

It was evident when I moved my residence to the South Bay that people actively strive to live healthy here. For several months, when driving along the Pacific Coast Highway, I noticed a towering sign “My Fit Foods” above what appeared to be either a local market or a fast-food restaurant. Turns out, it was neither. It is My Fit Foods, the latest location of a company that offers freshly prepared, conveniently portioned meals designed to keep you healthy. (As a native Texan, I was also pleased to learn that the company began in my home state, and has now expanded to California!)

I walked in the doors and was quickly introduced to a system designed for me: a busy person on the go who doesn’t always have time to make a good meal during my hectic work day. I embarked on the company’s popular 3-Day Quickstart during which I actually lost 3 lbs. (which have stayed off even after a week!). The experience was a great way to get back on track after a weekend of overindulging.

What I love most about My Fit Foods is that the quality is consistent, the portions make me feel full, and the meals are fresh and beautifully prepared. I can see how their system can work for the parent who cooks for the family, but needs something just for her or him, an overworked professional who needs a well-portioned, tasty meal for a desktop lunch, and the athlete who is watching their calorie intake during training. In short, I highly recommend it for all types of lifestyles. The convenience is that you don’t have to decide what to eat and you don’t have to shop, cook or clean up after your meal. However, because of the abundance of South Bay farmers markets, I added fresh kale, spinach, or portabella mushrooms to my meals, which I love.

My Fit Foods also offers a 21-Day Challenge, which I’m tempted to do soon. Let me know if you try My Fit Foods and how your results turn out! P.S. Psst … My Fit Foods NEEDS a Downtown Los Angeles location as I commute back and forth there to the Arts District almost daily!
